Daddy's Birthday

Today is Chris's birthday! I asked him what kind of cake he wanted and SUPRISE (NOT!) he picked chocolate with butter cream frosting. So I pulled out a recipe for each and baked from scratch. It was more work than a mix but didn't taste that much better. The frosting was very sweet. The frosting was also a little thinner than I'm used to and I had to pray that the top layer wouldn't slide right off the bottom layer onto the floor. It didn't. It wasn't a beautiful looking cake but it is the thought and effort that count, right? Here are the children licking the beaters from the icing this morning.
