Dance 2012

Quinlan performed with the Deborah MacKay School of Dance in their presentation of "Happily Ever After".  Friday night's show was attended by Grandma and Grandpa Connor, Max, Reilly, Chris and I.  On Saturday night, Mima and Betsy enjoyed the show with Chris and I while Max and Reilly stayed home with their cousin Emily.  Q had 3 dances; tap, jazz and ballet and 3 costume changes.  This is the first time her group has had costume changes and performed both nights and they did a really good job. We really enjoyed it.
Of course, I had to do her make up and put her hair in a bun...... which looked great during dress rehersal but wasn't my greatest creation on show nights.  As usual.

Community Arts Festival

Again this year, Quinlan had a piece of her original artwork selected for display at the Community Arts Festival at Webster Schroeder High School. Her art teacher chose her example of 3-D art from Frank Stella along with some of her classmates.

Quinlan and the 3rd Grade Select Chorus

The chorus performs at the Community Arts Festival at Schroeder High School

The chorus performs at the Rochester Red Wing's game on May 5th.  It was one of "those" events... started out as a 7:05 start - sing at 7th inning stretch. Changed via e-mail to 5:00 start - sing after the 4th inning.  Changed via note from school to 5:00 start - sing whenever they say.  The kids did a good job but our seats were behind them.  So we got to hear them, but looked at their backs.

Her group also sang an original song at the opening ceremonies of the Webster Relay for Life.  It was great!

Our "little" boy

Our "little" teenager!

Celebrating Max and Andee's birthday in Canandaigua.  Unfortunately, Andee wasn't feeling well and the party had to go on without her.  Poor Andee.

Max asked for "Big Top Cupcake" for his 13th birthday.  Here he is with his sisters before we ate it.  He spent the afternoon with his CDS friends at Williamson Middle School and the Peer Mentoring Program.  I sent donuts in for his classmates at Willink that morning and he took cupcakes to share at Williamson.

I can't believe my "little" boy is a teenager.  So far, we have been lucky..... the typical teen angst hasn't decended on us..... yet.  It seems like yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital to Brown Road in Corning.  13 years since I gave up working at the track and became a mom.  I'm just fortunate for the opportunity to have been home with him (and the girls) all this time.  Of course, there have been days when I wished otherwise, but I think Chris and I made the best decision for us.

CDS - Autism Fair. April 2012

We had the opportunity to attend the Autism Fair at CDS (Continuing Developmental Services).  It was one of those really nice days in the early spring.  the top picture is of the kids being wowed by the roving magician and the bottom picture is of "Rocky" the boy horse from Never Say Never Stables, here in Webster.  NSN specializes in theraputic horseback riding.  Both Max and Quinlan have been there and Reilly is looking forward to her turn.   The fair included some of the programs that are available to families effected by autism, other support groups and specialty shops.  Then Chris and the kids went swimming for a while.
Max attends programs at CDS.  He does Autism Skill Building and Recreation with a group of kids and adults.  They also provide Sib Shop and Parent Support for Quinlan and I.  Next fall, Reilly will be old enough to join Quinlan and her fun group.
